The real Winnie-the-Pooh flew home from the USA to the UK to play Poohsticks on the original bridge in Hartfield, East Sussex, near A A Milne’s home.

Topfoto photographer Lynne Champion was there, in June 1976. Three-year-old Peter Taylor of Hartfield carried the real Pooh bear, who made a special trip from the Methuen Museum, New York, where he had been living since the late 1950’s, to be with Peter on the famous Poohsticks Bridge. The two took part in a giant Teddy Bears picnic to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the writing of the first Winnie-the-Pooh book by A A Milne.
